All Day Kindergarten in Channahon?

It's a possibility that board members are likely to vote on in April.

Channahon District 17 Board of Education members have been discussing the possibility of all-day Kindergarten. Members plan to vote on it during the April meeting. At the meeting Thursday night, board members brought up a couple points they would like more information on, including the state budget. But, Superintendent Karin Evans said it is not likely they would have that information in April.

"We would hope that we have a state budget in May," she said.

But, she said there have been times when it has come later than June.

The district is projecting a total of 120 students in Kindergarten next year. If board members approve all-day Kindergarten, the district would need to hire three additional teachers.

The next board meeting will be held April 27.
