At about 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, two males entered a residence in the 22000 block of Carrie Avenue and left with $1,500 cash, Channahon Police Sgt. Shane Casey said.

The robbery, known as a ruse robbery, occured when two suspects, in a dark green GMC with a construction magnet on the side, pulled up to the residence. The first suspect began talking to the male resident outside and the second suspect entered the residence and spoke to the female resident.

Police said when the two males left, the couple noticed that the cash that was inside the female resident's pocketbook was missing. They said there was $1,500 cash, Casey said.

Police are reminding residents to be cautious. If they have unsolicited contractors approach their home, verify they are legitimate and call police if needed.

Police said this is not the first such incident in the Leland Hills subdivision.

"It's an area that's been targeted before because of the age demographic," Casey said.

The males left in a dark green GMC pick-up truck with a magnet for a contruction company on the side. The pick-up bed had a white tarp over the back that was covering the license plate. If you have any information, call Channahon Police at 815-467-2112.
