In this rare, rare circumstance Alzheimer's may have been a blessing for this poor women.

I've read numerous articles and statements by Drew that talked about what a perfect wife his mother was, how she kept an immaculate home, so on, etc. My hope was always that she wasn't abused or kept-in-place in any way. It definitely gave creedence to his unrealistic expectations in partners (although partners isn't even the right word; Drew never wanted a 'partner,' but more of an approval pleasing, codependent, unrealistic 50's housewife workhorse).

Not only does Drew not deserve to attend this funeral, but it would be yet another selfish act on his part. If he were given permission to attend, he would most likely be shackled w/@ least 2-4 ARMED guards on him @ all times. The entire service would turn into yet another circus starring him, and would completely take away from the celebration of his mother's life. It would be a free-for-all of more cocky sound bites from him and Brodsky), and worse, Drew playing the victim in the hopes to gain sympathy before his sentencing.

If he had an ounce of decency, he wouldn't even ask for the leave but rather allow his mother a peaceful funeral - though I highly doubt he has that decency. I'll say it again: THIS is when he finally starts to pay: by missing his son's graduation as valedictorian, his mother's funeral (and last years of life). Missing, missing, missing. His hope before that he'd soon be free - no longer the case. Let it sink in, Drew. You're finally paying for what you've done, and you're not above ANYONE.

Although I too believe that Drew is guilty, I do not like it that our Congress here in Illinois has passed into law the hearsay law he was convicted under. This law goes against every grain of my being as an American who believes our rights are eroding away.

HEARSAY is what Convicted the people of Salem which later resulted in the witch burnings there! I believe that this entire fiasco was due to shoddy and often botched up police work and the original mistaken determination by the counties coroner! I feel strongly that when this targeted law is challenged at our nations Supreme Court, it will be overthrown - which will result in a lengthy retrial at which time Drew Peterson could walk!

I remember when the news was reporting that Ryan was not allowed to see his dying wife. Yet they let a man convicted of murder and suspected of another to go to his mom’s funeral? Our system is a mess. I also did read that this is allowed and it is usually not publicized and why would it be? Only because he is a high profile case is the only reason it made the news. So sad and wrong.

Actually I guess Ryan was denied bail but was able to see his wife like 4 times and was there when she died and was able to attend funeral. My bad.
