Freight Train Victim Killed Himself: Police
Kirk Adams, a 47-year-old Joliet resident, was struck near Rowell Avenue and Manhattan Road in Joliet Township.
The Joliet man struck by a freight train Monday in Joliet Township Monday is believed to have committed suicide, Will County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.
Although Kirk D. Adams, 47, of 1129 Spencer Road, did not leave a note, he was "known to have issues," she said, and was kneeling on the tracks at the time he was struck.
The accident occurred at about 3:25 p.m. near the intersection of Rowell Avenue and Manhattan Road.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday by the Will County Coroner's Office confirmed that the cause of death was "multiple injuries (caused by) a train striking a pedestrian." Toxicology results are still pending.
