Grundy County Coroner Investigating Traffic Death

The crash, which occurred at 11 p.m., Friday, claimed the life of a 16-year-old Coal City resident.

 

Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan and Grundy County Sheriff’s Department announced they are investigating a traffic crash that claimed life of a 16-year-old Coal City woman.

The crash occurred around just after 11 p.m., Friday. The vehicle the girl was riding in left the roadway, struck a culvert and then rolled into a tree. The accident took place on Whittie, one quarter mile west of Broadway Street in Felix Township. Callahan pronounced the passenger dead at the scene.  Callahan released the identity of the deceased, Alyssa Nicole Swyndro of Coal City. 

Callahan states the weather condition at the time was snow-packed roads. Swyndro was wearing her seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by Callahan’s Office, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.

One of those great people I will always remember, she helped me through a horrendous battle while we were in the hospital, all by just giving a great smile and being there to listen.
