Nightmare on Hickory Street: An Inside View to a Horrific Double Murder
Patch obtained police reports detailing what allegedly transpired in the Hickory Street house in Joliet where two young men were choked to death in January.
Joliet Police and prosecutors have kept a tight lid on what happened in the Hickory Street home of Alisa Massaro the night two men were strangled and then left on the floor while their accused killers partied and played games.
Patch obtained the police reports detailing what the two men and two women charged in the double murder supposedly told officers and detectives after the bodies of Eric Glover and Terrance Rankins were found lifeless and hooded with plastic bags.
This is the first in a series of stories about the tale those reports tell.

glorifying them?..is it not the peoples right to know what kind of sick people there are in this world...Concealment leads to more victims...Not letting info about how they were trapped by "Friends" does not let the rest of the world know to be careful...Details is what leads to preparation...Imagine what kind of world we would live in if every murder was concealed..it would be an even more dangerous place to live not knowing people are being killed...That's a false reality...Me I like to know details..especially when it is some serial killer that gives details on how he captured his victims..it helps to teach my kids and family how NOT to be a victim...we lock our doors and windows as humans Why? because we know that there were people who crawled through windows and snatched up kids and murdered families,we leave our pourch light on to identify anyone who comes to the door. Why? because complete strangers have been known to go to peoples houses with deadly consequences...Information not glorification..Heroes are glorified, murderers are discussed and examined.watch some of the prison shows and just listen to how they got their victims..and if you don't learn anything then your missing the whole point of the show..

Very sad, sad, senseless murders. My son went to school(Hopewell) with Adam and Bethany. He got into an altercation with Adam because Bethany wanted to "date" my son. The school called to assure me that my son was fine because he had deflected Adam's punch and restrained him until an adult (teacher) regained control of Adam. Seems to me that there have been and still are some psychological issues. And yes, even demonic. More love, discipline and even accountability needed to be in their lives. God have mercy on their souls, something they did not have for their victims, for they will truly be living hell on earth once they reach the IDOC.

So when we had the death penalty no one killed each other?..No matter how we try to block it out...Killing is a part of nature...Man has been killing man since man was created...Death penalty?...We had just about as many innocent people die as we did actual criminals..How many millions and millions did the Tax Payers have to pay out for the STATES,and FEDERAL mistake? How many cops are being busted for corruption now? And you want these people to send others to the death chamber..Horrible murder rate?...No we have murder period....Funny how we live to make it ok to send people off to war to kill people and praise that Sh**..But for some reason we can not even begin to imagine murder happening here..Murder is murder and in life we have murder...No matter the laws,no matter the punishment...no matter the victim nor the person...All and every single one of us has the ability to kill....Even the nice police officers that everyone seems to think protects ya....will take his gun and murder ya...

I don't think people do these things because they know they wont be put to death, I doubt very much that thoughts for their future are at the forefront when they're commiting these acts. I'm sure these individuals might think differently about their actions after 20 years behind bars. Looking at the bigger picture, I don't think an eye for an eye is the answer, We proclaim to live in a civilsed society, who makes us judge, jury and executioner?

So many are clamoring for a "fast track" to the death chamber and reinstatement of the death penalty, but a recent survey of the most leading criminologists in the country found that the overwhelming majority did not believe that the death penalty is a proven deterrent to homicide. Eighty-eight percent of the country’s top criminologists do not believe the death penalty acts as a deterrent to homicide, according to a new study published in the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. Similarly, 87% of the expert criminologists believe that abolition of the death penalty would not have any significant effect on murder rates. So all you "eye for an eye" people out there really have your facts wrong. You can't dispute the facts that these statistics have been derived from. So don't be too quick to jump on the bandwagon for burning these 4 at the stake so to speak. The idea of the death penalty hanging over a criminal doesn't stop or dissuade him at all. I would rather see demons such as these 4 sit behind bars for the rest of their miserable lives with their every-day freedoms taken away while they can't escape the mere thought of what brought them to their current situation.

Reporting, no its not, its called tainting the jury pool and only will ensure there will be many many more decades we will hear of and pay for this terrible crime and justice will not be served for a long time..the families will now be forced to relive this for many years... And that is a sad fact. O yeah make all the laws you want only law abiding people will follow them.. Illinois is the only state with.no conceal n carry law and the most laws banning guns yet we have highest murder rate and terrible crimes like this happen too frequently... We are all at fault for letting our country degrade to what it is today, we all need to help change it by being involved, not just when bad things happen!

Having gone through something similar to this almost 30 years ago, I can say this... It does not help the family to cope with their loss when everywhere you turn, your loved one's face is on the front page. It is the cause of nightmares, and makes you uncomfortable every place you go. The worst thing in the world is identifying a body, and then turning on the TV to see their face on the nightly news or on the front page of the paper! And then comes the trial, where they try to get the person who murdered your family in cold blood a "fair" trial. It hangs in the balance every minute, because one stupid mistake can mean a mistrial. Most of you will never know what it is like to sit in a courtroom, and watch the person who killed someone close to you for weeks as they try to lie their way out of what they did. Most of you will be lucky...Joe Hosey likes to glorify these pieces of garbage because he's never been the one who lost the loved one, and he has no conscience. Its all about his name in lights, thinking he's a star, thinking he is somebody. Reality, you're nobody!

I always pray that no one else would have to go through what we did. The pain and emptiness never really go away! The memories and the bad dreams never go away either. The family will suffer untiil these people are long gone, and they just want justice. With a little luck, maybe bad reporting and leaking information won't spoil that for them. I think the State's Attorney should be investigating and seriously punishing those who are releasing this info. Joe, you'll get your 15 minutes of fame, hopefully this time it will include a summons...

Am I the only one who noted "Joliet Police and prosecutors have kept a tight lid on what", and "Patch obtained the police reports"? This seems like a very clear statement that these reports were leaked by the defense. As was noted in a comment about the gag order being issued at the request of one of the defense attorneys, it seems to me this was an intentional leak aimed at an eventual bid for a change of venue. Actually, it is a pretty clever though typically slimey defense, attempting to manipulate and obfuscate the facts. No chance of getting the confessions thrown out, no question of guilt, so create a question of a tainted jury pool. After all, a defense attorney doesn't care about the truth, they only care about getting their client off. No wonder most thinking people believe defense attorneys belong in the seventh circle of hell, right next to their clients. This reporter has done what he is supposed to do, which is ferret out the facts. I really wonder at the concept that this 'glorifies' the crimes. Personally, I'm appalled and sickened by what these monsters said they did and I think it is a good reminder that there are those who walk amongst us that are capable of these atrocities. Maybe if we as a society stopped blaming the victims, stopped trying to blame anything other than the offenders for their actions in our attempts to understand how ostensible humans could do these things to another there wouldn't be the perception of 'glorification' of these crimes.

The punishment should fit the crime. But sadly, I don't think we have a punishment available that would fit THIS crime. It's beyond horrible what happened here and it just goes to show the horrors that man is capable of. At least a gun wasn't used. I'm sick of hearing how bad "they" (the guns) are. It's not guns!! It's people. As sick and twisted as this story is, the media would have had more of a field day if a gun was involved.

Good point, although it is the guns as well, the fact that guns are so readily available in the U.S is without a shadow of a doubt linked to the fact that they get used in crime more than any where in the world - that's basic math. In the U.K barely anyone has guns - to put it simply, a gun makes it much easier to kill someone. This gruesome foursome are something else however, what is going wrong that these youths are so bereft of humanity?

I wonder what these two victims did to reap losing their lives in this way; their bodies dishonered as even human beings after the fact. Lured to "kick it" with two women (caucasion) in an attempt to carry out this plan which wreaks a total disregard for a black man's life. Unfortunately this is going to play out in some way elsewhere and it's not going to be good for anybody.
