Open House Planned for JJC's Newly Expanded Natural Sciences Building

The event to showcase 14 new labs will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 25.

The expansion of the Natural Sciences Building at Joliet Junior College added 10 biology labs and four chemistry labs.

"Building E was always the natural sciences; this expansion just makes it larger," said Rachel Rose, JJC's communications and external relations spokeswoman. "It affects pretty much anybody who needs to take science."

A public open house for the remodeled building will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 25.

In addition to the laboratories, the expansion adds much needed prep space for each lab, Rose said.

"The lab techs has no space to get ready for the labs," she said.

The Natural Sciences Building expansion was one of the projects funded by the $89 million building bond referendum approve in 2008. Patch has written about some of the other projects, including the service shop expansion.
