Blotter: Man Charged with Beating Pregnant Woman
Joliet police also arrest a Minooka man in a sex assault case that occurred nearly a year ago.
An eight-month pregnant woman beaten by her drug-addled boyfriend managed to escape when he went to the bathroom, Joliet police said.
Officers met with the woman about 2 a.m. Sunday at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. She told them her boyfriend of the past nine months woke her up, accused her of cheating on him, and started beating her, police said.
She told the officers her boyfriend, identified as 30-year-old Damon Stanislaus of 3605 Buck Ave., Joliet, was high on PCP, police said. He allegedly held her captive in the Buck Avenue house and stopped her from calling the police.
When Stanislaus went to the bathroom, the woman made a break for it and drove to the hospital, police said.
Stanislaus was taken into custody shortly before 5 p.m. the same day and charged with aggravated battery, domestic battery and interference with emergency communication, according to the jail booking list.
He was taken to the Will County jail and remains there in lieu of $150,000 bond.
