Active Shooter; Would you Know How to Respond?
Channahon Police Department invites the public to an event to teach them how to respond if faced with an active shooter.
It's a situation in which most of us hope we never find ourselves - faced with a gunman in a public place.
We hear about the tragedies, the theater shooting in Colorado, or, closer to home, the Northern Illinois University shooting in 2008. We are shocked and concerned, but would we know what to do if we found ourselves in that situation? Channahon Police want to arm the public with knowlege of what to do. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, the department will hold a class at Minooka Community High School, south campus.
The class is free and open to the public but, children are requested to be accompanied by a parent. Channahon Police Officer Craig Gunty is the class coordinator. He can be contacted at 815-467-5152 or at cgunty@channahon.org.
