The drill was as follows:

Overnight on Jan. 24 into Jan. 25, a train derailed in neighboring Livingston county. That train was carrying anthrax, which was released into the air. The Grundy County Health Department needed to vaccinate county residents.

That was the scenario for the Grundy County Health Department drill conducted Jan. 25. Representatives from the Grundy County Health Department, Morris Hospital and other community volunteers gathered at the county health building to participate in the emergency drill.

"We have these drills so that in the event that it ever did happen, we would be ready to go," said Kay Lynn Shoemaker, Grundy County Health Department administrative assistant and incident commander for the drill. "It's been good sitting there being able to work together as a team and have to deal with the incidents that were thrown at us."
