Senior Housing Fire Set by Angry Visitor: Cops

Lloyd Flatt Jr. has been charged with aggravated arson in connection with the Sunday night blaze he allegedly set in a laundry room, Joliet police said.

A Joliet man, apparently angered that he was being kicked out of his 85-year-old father's senior housing facility apartment, set a fire Sunday night in the complex's laundry room, Joliet police said.

Lloyd M. Flatt Jr., 67, admitted he set a magazine on fire at about 9:45 p.m. at Marycrest Village, 2115 Marmion Ave., but told police he didn't intend for the blaze to hurt anyone, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News.

The damage was limited to the laundry room and no one was injured, the story said.

Flatt was charged with aggravated arson. He is being held in the Will County jail; bond will be set at a Tuesday hearing.
