Her husband had to fight the snow to get to work.
Plainfield's Robin Johnston and her daughter, Brenna, 10, spent part of the day Tuesday playing in the snow with neighborhood pal Megan Presbitero at Four Seasons Park in Shorewood.
The park drew a numbers of boys and girls of all ages making the most of a snow day off school.
"The kids have been wanting to come out, but we haven't had much snow this season," Robin Johnston said. "So, we decided to come out and take advantage of our day off of testing—with ISATs and everything, so coming out and having a good time."
Since the snow was heavy and wet—heart attack snow—all agreed the trick to maximizing fun was to have the right sled and the right gear.
"I'm glad I've got some snowpants on to keep me dry," Johnston said. "But, yeah, it seems like we've got those round sleds that work real well and this plastic one—it seems to work pretty well."
