UPDATE: Grey Family Establishes Carrie's Kids Fund
Community asked to help pay medical, funeral, family expenses; public wake Tuesday, Wednesday.
The wake for Carolyn Grey, known to family and friends as Carrie, will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Lawn Funeral Home, 7732 W. 159th St. Orland Park.
The wake is open to the public. The full obituary can be found here.
Carolyn Grey was killed May 10, when her SUV was struck by a semi at the intersection of Bell Road and Route 6 in Channahon.
Her two daughters, Veronica, 4 and Gianna, 6 months were also in the car. Veronica was airlifted to an area hospital, where she had surgery and is currently in physical therapy. Gianna was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and was later released.
The family has established a fund, Carrie's Kids, which will help with the expenses incurred in the accident.
"Obviously there are funeral expenses, said Julie Rintz, a paralegal with Jahnke, Sullivan and Tookis, LLC, which helped establish the fund. "In addition there are hospital expenses for the children."
In addition to the costs from the accident, the family has lost it's main source of income. The car involved in the crash was the only family vehicle.
"Carrie was the one who was working in the family; dad was home taking care of the kids," Rintz said.
Donations to Carrie's Kids can be mailed to Carrie's Kids, in care of Great Lakes Bank, 9697 West 191st St., Mokena, Ill., 60448

So, so sad. I live down the street from where this happened. I pray for the family everyday & think about them & the horrible tragedy that has happened to them so often! Driving by the scene & seeing the
flowers & crosses makes my heart melt! I will continue to pray & may God be w/ the family ♥ Gob Bless you all & hearts;

I have been praying for the family none stop, everytime we have to leave the subdivison I tear up. I have 3 kids around the same ages as Carrie's babies and I can't imagine a minute with out them. I have changed a lot of things since this accident and instead of making sure my house is spotless I spend more time just having fun and enjoying my kids. This is just a reminder that it can all be gone in a second. I pray that she is a guardian angel watching over her kids and husband and will continue to have them in my heart and prayers.
