Walking the Catwalk and Painting for Fun
Playing the role of a model is never anything but fun.
Last week, I invited you all out to the Westfield Louis Joliet Mall for the Bridal Expo. I was able to model two lovely dresses in the show. And, I saw one of the nicest suits I have ever seen in the show. You can see it in the photo attached to this story.
The bridal shows I have been involved in have always been sponsored by Joliet Junior College Renaissance Center and the dresses have always been provided by White Carriage Bridal. Owner Dottie Plut dresses all the girls and keeps us all relatively calm while we are waiting to walk along the catwalk. She always reminds us to have fun. And Susie Stockwell, Wedding and Event coordinator for the Renn Center makes everything she does into a complete event. She knows how to put on a show.
On Friday, we will have a photo slideshow and short story on some of the trends in weddings. At the bridal expo, the models' hair and make-up was done by Diva's in Shorewood. Patch will run a business story on Diva's on April 24.
Painting in the Trees
From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 21, you can pick a ceramic to paint at Pilcher Park Nature Center. Participation to the event is free, you pay for the particular ceramic item you chose to paint.
I have been to the event before and it was a ton of fun. Once you paint your chosen item, the item is taken to be fired and you can pick it up later at the park. Pilcher Park is located at 2501 Highland Park Drive in Joliet. More information can be found on the Pilcher Park Nature Center's Facebook Page.
