Crews Will Be Working Thursday on Navajo Drive in Channahon

Resurfacing work is part of the Village's Asphalt Preservation Project.

As part of the Village of Channahon's Asphalt Preservation Project, crews will be working on Navajo Drive—from U.S. 6 to Sioux—on Thursday (Aug. 1).

Two-way traffic will remain open at all times, according to an alert on the Village's website, but traffic controls and workers will be present from about 7:30 a.m. to 4-5 p.m.

Residents are asked to reduce their speed while driving in the construction zone.

"Work consists of spraying an asphalt emulsion followed by light sand application for traction," according to the Village of Channahon website. "In the morning, the contractor will restrict traffic to the northbound side of the road.

"They will then spray the southbound side, which will mostly cure in around two hours; any tracking at that point should be light. Sometime between 11 and noon, after shifting traffic to the treated southbound lane, they will spray the northbound lane. A few hours after that, paint striping will take place."

Residents should note the greatest chance for having to drive through freshly applied sealer in the morning will be those entering or leaving St. Ann's Church, according to the Village website. The greatest chance for having to drive through freshly applied sealer between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. will be those entering or leaving Village Hall or (the) Police Department.
