Snow, Slippery Roads in the Forecast: National Weather Service

High winds could mean low visibility Thursday afternoon.

You're not tired of snow, are you?

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Grundy County, calling for gusty winds of up to 40 mph and a brief period of light to moderate snow Thursday.

The high winds are already causing blowing and drifting of snow, hindering visibility in open areas.

A brief period of snow could affect the afternoon commute Thursday. "Snow may briefly fall intensely enough to lower visibility to a mile at times ... with accumulation of up to an inch possible, especially along and north of the Interstate 88 corridor," NWS said.

The weather service was advising drivers to brace for a potentially slow and slippery afternoon rush hour.

The area could also get one to three inches of snow late Friday and into Saturday morning.
