UPDATED: Area Schools Closed, Channahon Trash Pick-up Halted Monday Due to Cold
Waste Management garbage collection is delayed to Tuesday in Channahon.
Minooka District 111 and District 201 are closed Monday and Tuesday in anticipation of a severe cold snap hitting the Chicago area. Channahon School District 17 also will be closed to students early this week.
Holy Family School in Shorewood will be shut to students as the temperature drops to double digits below zero on Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning and a wind chill warning for early this week.

Classes are cancelled at all Lewis University campuses, including the one located in Shorewood. Joliet Junior College also will be shut down on Monday.
Waste management collection in Joliet and Channahon is cancelled for Monday and is rescheduled for Tuesday.
