Bar and Restaurant to Open on the Border

New business moves into old Sara's building, just over Channahon village limits.

Are you ever looking to just stop and get a drink or two after work? Or perhaps grab a bunch a friends and go dance to the latest hits? Have a drink on the patio and enjoy the summer weather?

Well, look no further than Liquid Therapy.

“We want our establishment to be a fun place,” said owner Tony Daniels. “It’s our goal to have our customers have a good time.”

Daniels hopes to have the bar open by the beginning of June.

“There are no bars in the area (east of Interstate 55 on Eames Street/Route 6) with a decent-size dance floor,” Daniels said. “We made it a point to have a big dance floor and an expansive sound system.”

He and business partner John Maracek have spent about $100,000 fixing up the place.

According to Daniels, Liquid Therapy, at 3501 Channahon Rd., is targeting three demographics of people to frequent the bar.

“The after-work crowd will have a nice place to stop to have a drink or two,” Daniels said. “Later in the evening, the younger crowd will arrive, not only to drink, but to utilize the dance floor.”

On weekends, Daniels would like to see the business bring in the bikers on motorcycles. When the weather is warm, there is a huge paver patio area to accommodate many guests.

By being not far from the Hollywood Casino in Joliet, Daniels said he hopes to serve those customers as well.

Daniels said he would like to see the restaurant part of the business up and running by July. It will be a steak and seafood eating establishment, as well as a place to get a hearty breakfast.

The name of the restaurant has been chosen, Daniels said, but will be released closer to opening for business.

Previously Sara’s Slammers and Sara’s Place were housed in the building for several years. Daniels worked as a bartender there. The business went into foreclosure. Shortly thereafter, Daniels and Maracek decided to tackle the bar/restaurant business.

Daniels says Liquid Therapy and the new restaurant will be employ a completely new staff.

“I’m really excited about opening,” Daniels said.

Jason Daniels, Tony’s brother, and future manager of Liquid Therapy, is also excited.

“I believe it will turn into a gold mine,” Jason Daniels said. “It’s been a long journey but it’s definitely close. Tony has a good financial mind. Between him and John, it will do excellent.”
