Channahon Lions Want to Attract New Members

Local organization is hosting an outdoor gathering to educate the public and drive membership.

The Channahon Lions Club wants to see their organization grow. Right now, they have 15 members. But their reason for wanting more members is as altruistic as the organization itself.

"The more members we have, the more good we can do," Reveneal O'Brien, secretary of the Channahon club, said.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 9, the Lions are hosting a event at Central Park.

Bob Waters has been a Channahon Lion for 20 years. He first happened upon the organization when they helped him out.

"They helped me out; I was off work and I wouldn't take anything from my parents," he said. "I had six kids."

The Lions Club helps others, especially those with hearing or vision impairments.

"It's an organization that actually helps people who are in need," O'Brien said. "The local clubs sponsor aid locally."
