Dog's Name Can Be Traced to His Roots

Jullo? So, what's with the name of that new K9 search and rescue dog?

"It means nothing but a first name in Czech," said Forest Preserve District of Will County officer Dean Klier in a Sun-Times News Group report. "We've looked it up."

Klier is the handler of the 18-month-old German shephered, a dog born in the Czech Republic and originally taught to respond to commands in Czech, according to the report.

Jullo will make one of his first public appearances in this area at the Hugs for Hounds event—the fifth annual doggie Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Hammel Woods in Shorewood. The cost to attend is $5 per dog and proceeds will go to support Jullo.

Expect to see Klier at his side.

"Every day we've done some kind of different training (like) laying a track," he said in the Sun-Times News Group report. "It is still amazing when someone goes a half-mile away and he still goes right to them."
