Download Music for Free Legally

Are you itchin' for the latest music but cannot afford to pay a dollar for each song? Try your local library.

Everyone knows that the library loans out books. You need a library card and you can check out books for a specified period of time. Most people know the same is true for CDs and DVDs. What most people might not know, though, is that you can download music from your library for free. And it's music you can keep.

"They're yours to keep forever," Three Rivers Library Assistant Director Lauren M. Offerman said. "You're limited to three songs per week."

That's three songs per week per library card. So a family of three can download nine songs per week.

The program is called Freegal and as if it were not cool enough already, you don't even have to go to the library to download the music. In fact, you cannot do it at the library, you must do it from home.

And, one more perk, the files work on any device, including Apple-based products.

"You don't have to download any software or anything," Offerman said.

Just go to the library homepage, click on the Freegal link on the right side of the screen and enter your library card number.

Happy downloading.
