Patch Readers Share 9/11 Stories - Locally and Across the Country

It's not just the residents of Channahon and Minooka who survived 9/11. There are millions of us and millions of stories to be told.

Here at Channahon Minooka Patch, we have spent the past week telling you the stories of our friends and neighbors and where they were on 9/11. But as many of us watched in horror on our televisions, or listened on our radios, worried about loved ones who were thousands of miles away, other Americans watched in horror in person. They worried about the people they saw on trains every day or their children, husbands, wives, friends, who were somehow connected first-hand to the tragedy.

We at Channahon Minooka Patch believe our stories will unite us. Within each , each , each one of us who mourn have family to turn to.

To help reflect the endless diversity of their experiences, Patch looked out across our sites to pull together 9/11 snapshots of everyday Americans whose lives were changed by the events of that day.

From across the country, this Patch site and hundreds of others captured the faces, keepsakes, memorials, ceremonies, flags, fund-raisers, deployments and the still-raw emotions that followed the attacks.

Taken together they create a powerful mosaic that is large in scope but often deeply personal. Click through to see how your neighbors near and far marked the day.
