Channahon Business Shut Down by Court Order

Integrated Industries can remove cargo containers from their property, but is otherwise closed.

On Thursday morning, Channahon Village President Joe Cook and representatives from the Channahon Police Department served Integrated Industries with a temporary restraining order obtained from the Twelfth Judicial Court in Will County.  The restraining order said the company must stop operating, maintaining and organizing any business activity in support of container storage, including but not limited to transporting, moving, storing or servicing cargo containers.

By Friday morning, a second court order changed one thing.

“Integrated is now allowed to removed containers from their property but not bring any new ones in,” Channahon Deputy Police Chief Jeff Wold said.

Integrated Industries is at 24312 Riverside Drive and is zoned Industrial 1, the lightest industrial zoning in Channahon.

“He’s in violation of zoning code,” Channahon Village Manager Jamie Bowden said. “What he’s doing, he doesn’t have the right size (lot).

“He just doesn’t meet the zoning requirement for storage containers.”

For more than two years, village officials have been trying to address the issues at and around Integrated Industries.

“It’s a safety issue plain and simple,” Channahon Community Development Director Mike McMahon said.

Channahon Police have had to direct traffic in that area a number of times, Channahon Deputy Police Chief Jeff Wold said.

“Traffic issues at the business has made traffic back up all the way to Route 6,” he said. “They were blocking entrances to other businesses, and they were blocking entrances to Shepley Road.”

The business cannot operate now by court order, but because they can move storage containers off property, Channahon police will be in place during Integrated Industries’ operating hours.

Intergrated Industries did not return a phone call requesting comment.
