Escape to the beat of a drum.

Drum Circles are a great way to relieve tension, commiserate with friends or even find focus – if that’s what you’re looking for.

This Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., HS Healing and Wellness Center in Joliet will be hosting a Meditation Drum Circle that focuses on
beginner drum rhythms and guided meditation.

The purpose of this facilitated drumming session is for meditation and relaxation.


Typically, drum circles are a group of people who gather informally with a group of drums and other hand percussion items to enjoy a free-form, shared rhythmic style of music playing. This musical style can be enjoyed by people of any age and skill level.

And because of the attributes of drum circles, they are often used in healing or therapeutic situations.

The vibrational nature of this group form of drumming resonates not only with each individual drummer, but the group as a whole. The goal of meditative drumming is to get in tune with yourself and your surroundings.

Since switching from a , the Center has focused its programming around activities that have holistic benefits for mind body and spirit.

This is the first event of its kind at the Center and if it is well-received, they will be hosting a drumming session at least once a month.

This event is open to the public with a suggested donation to the Center whose proceeds benefit area non-profit organizations.

If you have a drum or any other percussion items, bring them with, but owning a drum is not necessary for participation. Additional drums and hand percussion items will be available.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
