Local Autobody Repair Facility Busiest in Winter

Minooka shop guarantees quality work done by highly-certified auto technicians.

Many people in the area probably are not familiar with . That is until they are involved in a car accident and need repairs to their vehicle.

“They usually don’t find out about us until they really need us,” said owner Brian Turk.

The facility, located at 508 Twin Rail Dr. in Minooka, is a state-of-the-art auto body repair facility that offers repairs with quick turnaround times.

Customers involved in an accident will be referred to Turk’s by their insurance company. And most of the insurance companies work closely with the auto repair facility, Turk said.

“Insurance companies are the majority of our business and they tell us what needs to be fixed,” Turk said. “We can fix anything. Our average turnaround is four to five days. It can be less or more. It depends on the extent of the damage.”

Auto technicians at Turk’s will work on about 50 vehicles a month in the immaculate garage. The repairs can be something minor that costs a couple hundred dollars to repair or it could be a major repair at costs as high as $20,000, Turk said.

What the average person may think is a slight fender bender can amount to much more. Car parts, especially the plastic pieces, are higher priced than one may think to repair.

“The littlest things can be a lot of money,” Turk said. “It doesn’t take much.”

But Turk guarantees whatever the cost, his customers are receiving quality work. He has seven employees who are all ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and I-Car (Inter-Industry Conference) Collision Repair certified.

“I have technicians to do things the right way,” Turk said. “They do quality work and stand behind their work. The work has a lifetime warranty and I have the necessary equipment to the jobs that need to be done.”

Local municipalities use the services of Turk’s also. The Villages of Shorewood, and Plainfield have recently had their village vehicles in the shop for repairs. Pinstripping and other detail work can be done at Turk’s, but Turk said he is very busy with the collision work.

“I like the collision work more,” Turk said, adding that he occasionally works in the garage now because he oversees the business and manages the financial end. “But I’m not one to shy away from work.”

The business is steady the majority of the year, however the winter time is usually the busiest, Turk said. The months of April and May are the slow season, he said.

Customers coming to pick up their car have the luxury to relax in a clean and professional looking waiting area.

“I want my customers to feel as comfortable as possible,” Turk said. “The noise is left to the garage.”

And dog lovers of all ages will love to see Turk’s mascot Hudson. He is always at the office ready to greet customers.

Turk has been in the automotive repair business for 12 years. He has owned Turk’s Collision Repair for six. Turk said he got into the business because he wanted to follow his brother’s footsteps. His brother owns a similar shop in East Peoria.

“I worked six years for another company and had the opportunity to own my own company,” Turk said. “I figured I was young and might as well try it out.”

As for the future, Turk sees only good things for his company.

“It will continue to grow and we will do the same quality repairs and keep up with the industry’s standards,” Turk said.
