Visions of Vacancy: Bean Encounter

This versatile building sits empty today, almost two years after it closed its doors.

Everything about the location of meant it should have been successful. And, for a time, it was. The building, on Ridge Road in , was the site of moms' clubs, was the landing pad for the before it occupied the old fire station building and was a favorite stop for teenagers when school was out for the day. But, Bean Encounter closed its doors on May 30, 2010. Nothing has occupied the building since.

"As a coffee shop, we were amazed they did not make it," , realtor at Coldwell Banker Honig Bell, who also serves on the newly formed Channahon Economic Development Comittee said. "Probably the one thing that may have hurt them is there is no stoplight.

"It's a perfect spot for a coffee house."
