Visions of Vacancy: Space Adjacent to Ivo's Still Available

Although it has the most liberal zoning, the space that used to be Radio Shack cannot be a tattoo parlor.

About two years ago, Radio Shack moved from it's storefront on the southeast corner of Route 6 and the Interstate 55 interchange. Since that time, , who is attached to the space, which they also own, has received lots of inquiries about the space, but no renter has come forward.

Sharon Maksutowski, manager of Ivo's, said that they have had more than one inquiry from potential business owners who want to open a tattoo parlor. The village ordinance, however, specifies that tattoo parlors must be located in industrial areas. The location along Route 6 is zones commercial, C-3.

"It's the most open commercial zoning," Mike McMahon, Channahon Community Development Director said.

Maksutowski said about the only thing that would not be a good fit for the space would be a restaurant, as they would be competing with Ivo's.

Radio Shack remained in Channahon and is now located in the Sharp Commercial Center, off Route 6 and Ridge Road.
