Judges Retire: Twelfth Judicial Circuit 'Will Miss Two Fine Jurists'

Gerald Kinney and Richard Siegel stepping down from Will County bench positions and making plans for life after working in the courthouse.

Two household names in Will County judicial circles are saying their goodbyes to friends as they look forward to life after sitting on the bench.

Gerald R. Kinney and Richard J. Siegel—two circuit court judges for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit—recently announced plans to retire, according to a report in the Bugle newspapers.

Kinny will retire after 20 years on the bench at the end of his current term on Nov. 30, 2014. He was the chief judge of the Circuit for two terms from 2008 to 2012 and is currently assigned to the Felony Division.

Siegel will retire on Dec. 31, 2013 after serving 12 years on the bench. He is currently assigned to the Civil Jury Division.

“The Judiciary will miss these two fine jurists and we wish them well in their future endeavors,” stated Chief Judge Richard C. Schoenstedt in the Bugle report.
