Reader's Choice: Staycation

"Staycation" was a buzzword a couple years ago. Back then, gas was even more expensive than it is now, or at least that's how we remember it. But there are things going on here at home that you can enjoy if you choose to take some time off and recharge your batteries locally.

• : There are book clubs, activities for kids, crafts and speakers. Even if you are not on a staycation, if you haven't checked out your local library lately, you are missing out.
• : You can hike, walk, bike, etc. along the canal route that runs through town. It's beautiful and worth the time. Bring your camera and send us photos if you go.
• : There in Minooka, you can hike, swing, play in the splash pad, the park has lots to do.
• : Keeping with the theme of the splash pad, this is the place in Channahon to go.
