Source of Thursday Night Alarm Still a Mystery

Channahon Police said they investigated the alarm, but did not have an answer for the cause.

Channahon Police Chief Jeff Wold said the department received about 40 phone calls from residents reporting a mysterious alarm Thursday night. And while police investigated the alarm, they never were able to locate the source.

"It went from about 9:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.," Wold said. "A little while later, it went for 10 minutes."

The sound was coming from the south side of the river, near Harborside Marina, Wold said.

It was south of the village jurisdiction," Wold said.

Because of that, Will County Sheriff's Police also investigated the alarm, but to no avail, Wold said.

Although police could not find the source of the alarm, Wold said it was not an emergency situation.

"It wasn't a police or fire alarm," Wold said.

In addition, Wold said the alarm was not coming from any of the local plants.

Police are asking for help in solving the mystery. If you know what the source of the alarm was, please go to the Channahon Police Facebook Page and leave a comment or send a private message.
