Whiz Kid: Channahon Karate Kid

At the age of 13 and with only three years of studying RyuKu Kempo Karate, Andrew Engel is a deputy black belt and assistant instructor for Bob Golden School of Defense. Engel admires martial artist and actor Chuck Norris because he had determination to succeed. And that is what Engle strives for too.

With his gift of music, he plays the saxophone in the school band. His enrollment in catalyst (honor) classes since third grade and his participation in the Scholastic Bowl prove that he is headed down the right path and succeeding in whatever he chooses. One of those choices, which Engel once considered, was studying to be a brain surgeon.

His comical side is portrayed in his participation in the school’s Drama Club. Playing strategic video games demonstrates his wit. His love for Astronomy allows him to study the stars. And indulging in Oreo Pie from Bakers Square is well, just because he can.
