Last Chance: Ride the Rock and Celebrate Mom

On Saturday, the area will be overrun by cyclists Riding the Rock and Sunday is Mother's Day.

Usually we take advantage of this spot on the page to tell you about upcoming deadlines for programs at the or at . This week, though, we want to make sure you remember an event that is put on by the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

The Ride the Rock event is in its sixth year and is a family-friendly event, although it is recommended that riders be 11 years old or older.

Starting at 9 a.m., May 12 at the I&M Canal Access (Empress/Hollywood Road (Houbolt Road), 0.25-mile south of I-80, in Joliet), the ride heads northward along the Rock Run Trail, and travels for 16 miles. Registration begins on May 10. You can register, download a map and find information on parking here.
