Missing Dog Update: More Finn Sightings in Romeoville, Now in Channahon

Volunteers are asking residents for continued help in tracking the pooch.

Village of Channahon officials are reporting on the village Facebook page that Finn was reported in Channahon Tuesday morning.

The dog was reportedly spotted by a Will County Forest Preserve officer, who saw Finn at 6 a.m. this morning on Route 6 and Konvevich Rd. Finn was on the south side of Route 6 by and parking lot. He then crossed and went into some backyards on the north side of route 6.

The rescue dog has been missing for more than a month is believed to have spent most of last week in Romeoville — thanks to a kindhearted resident.

“There was a woman [in Romeoville] who was feeding him,” said Susan Hennis, Finn’s former foster mom and coordinator with the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network.

But an attempt to trap the resourceful pooch, missing since he on March 31, was unsuccessful, Hennis said.

“He’s apparently a very smart dog,” she said. “He’s one step ahead of us every time.”

Prior to the Channahon spotting, the dog was also spotted along Theodore Street near Gaylord Road in Crest Hill, before another sighting placed him near the site of his escape near Joliet Junior College in Joliet.

Now, Hennis said, volunteers are hoping to get the brown and white spaniel, age 2, trapped in a fenced area. She emphasized that anyone who spots the dog should not chase him, as that tends to spook Finn and send him running.

Based on his travels so far, Hennis is predicting Finn will revisit some familiar territory, and she’s asking residents to keep an eye out. In addition to Joliet Romeoville and Channahon, the dog has been seen in the outside Shorewood in Troy Township.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes back to Romeoville since he was getting food there,” Hennis said.

Anyone who sees the dog is asked to contact Hennis at 309-838-4176 or help_finn@yahoo.com. Sightings can also be posted on a Facebook page set up to aid in the search, www.facebook.com/HelpFindFinn.

A $500 reward is being offered for Finn's safe return.

There have been numerous sightings recently in Channahon including a picture of him by Packard Transport so he is still in the area.

Finn was positively sighted in Minooka 5/14 near Deerpath. If you see him, please do not chase or call his name as he is very quick to run away. Instead please call the number in the story or go to Facebook.com/Help Find Finn
