Sundays are usually quiet at . So, three years ago, the organizers of the annual festival partnered up with in Shorewood to provide a wine tasting.
Martin Dahl took over ownership of the store in March of this year. The event in is one that he was happy to continue.
"All of these (wines) are either personal or store favorites," Dahl said about the selections available on Sunday. One - Los Primos - is one that has its own nickname around the store.
"We call it the girlfriend wine," Dahl said.
The wine was described on the wine list on Sunday as "fruity and floral, semi-sweet, slightly effervescent, extremely refreshing, vivacious and sensual wine."
What it does not describe is how it is universally likable. Dahl said it is the wine that the store staff suggests when men come in looking to buy a bottle of wine for their girlfriend. And, nine times out of ten, the girlfriend comes back into the store looking for that bottle of wine her boyfriend bought so she can buy a second bottle.
The event included featured wines from Europe, Spain, Argentina and Illinois.
Margaret Yates, of Minooka, has attended the wine tasting since the beginning. She enjoys local wines.
"I like wineries, but I'm finding out about more Illinois ones," she said.
