5 Senior Student-Athletes Make College Commitments

5 Senior Student-Athletes made college commitments to continue their athletic career.

Joliet Catholic Academy is proud to announce that 5 of our student-athletes signed letters of intent at last week’s signing day. Grayson Horton, Adam Janusz-Lancaster, Mary Susan Rouse, Francesca Sikorski, and J.C. Wagner have all made commitments to continue their respective sports at the collegiate level.

Grayson Horton, the son of Felton and Julie Horton of Crest Hill, signed a letter of intent to continue his track career at McKendree University. Boy’s track coach, Eric McCants, spoke greatly of Grayson, “It is a huge honor to be here for Grayson, since joining our program Grayson has stuck through everything and has shown great dedication for his team, myself, and his school. He is not only a good athlete, but a good kid.”

Adam Janusz-Lancaster, the son of Patrick and Marie April Lancaster of Channahon, signed a letter of intent to continue his volleyball career at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. Adam is a member of St. Jude’s Parish. Adam is also a Kazma Scholar.

Mary Susan Rouse, the daughter of Kevin and Susan Rouse of Yorkville, signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at the University of St. Francis in Joliet. She is a member of St. Raymond’s Parish. Mary Susan helped the Joliet Catholic Angels bring home the regional championship this year and is also a member of the Bolingbrook Panthers. Mary’s coach, Ed Schodrof, said a few words about Mary, “When I think of Mary, the first word I think of is corner stone. She has inherited a reputation of never faulting. She is the definition of a great student and athlete, she is never satisfied with the average, always going above and beyond. Mary is impossible to replace, but our loss is St. Francis’ gain.”

Francesca Sikorski, the daughter of Jeffery and Mary Sikorski of Shorewood, signed a letter of intent to continue her cross country/track career at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her coach Meghan Prohaska congratulated Francesca saying, “Francesca is the hardest worker I have ever met. I can always count on her to be at practice every day ready to run. She is a phenomenal runner and will be just as great next year. She is an excellent student and leader who will do wonderful things.”

J.C. Wagner, the son of Brent and Stephanie Wagner of Joliet, signed a letter of intent to continue his track career at Lake Erie College. His coach Eric McCants spoke of him saying, “J.C. is the definition of a leader, even when going through injuries he was still leading. J.C. is an awesome kid and athlete, coaches will be lucky to have him.” J.C. is also the corner for the JCA football team and had a tough time choosing between track and football.
