Trends in Community Event Planning for 2012
A cool description of trends in community event planning. Enjoy!
After attending many community-based events, I’ve compiled the top four (4) trends that really make your local event success and trendy!
- Get Hip: Try to make your events inter-generational. By inviting entire families, you have the potential to increase the reach of your organization, boost your program participation & volunteer base.
- Simplicity Is Key: People are dealing with a lot and the last thing an organization should do is promote excess during these hard economic times. Keep your events modest & memorable by focusing on intangible moments that connect the organization to people. Pictures and a new technique called photo voice are great tools for this tip.
- Host Locally: Hold the event in a space that is easy to access and local to your target audience. At the start of the program tell a story about why the space is important and its relevance to the organization’s event.
- Crowd Not Crowded: Try to invite just the right amount of people. Doing so creates less issues and encourages event goers to interact with everyone present.
