3 Injured in 2 Car Crash in Morris

Late night crash on Route 47 sends two drivers and a passenger to the hospital.

Two adults and a child were taken to the hospital Monday night following a 2-vehicle crash on Route 47 in Morris.

Morris Police Chief Brent Dite said one vehicle was crossing the Route 47 overpass above the railroad tracks when the car began to have trouble.

"The vehicle stalled and stopped on the overpass; the driver pulled over," Dite said.

The vehicle pulled as far over as possible on 2-lane roadway. The driver of the second vehicle struck the first from behind. The driver of the first vehicle, a 26-year-old, was taken to the hospital as was an 11-year-old girl who was a passenger in the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital.

The Morris Daily Herald is reporting that the driver of the second vehicle, Briann Lyday, 26 of Braidwood, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
