Cat Dies in Channahon House Fire

No people were injured in the fire that left the home uninhabitable.

Channahon Fire Protection District is reporting that a fire in a home in the 25700 block of Fieldstone Path resulted in the death of a family pet. Firefighters were called the home at 12:35 p.m., Oct. 19. When they arrived, fire and smoke were showing from the north side of the attached garage and the west side of the home.

A homeowner was home at the time of the fire, but escaped without injury. However, the family cat did not survive.

Because of fire and water damage to the garage and smoke and heat damage to the home and its contents, the occupants of the home were referred to the American Red Cross by fire department officials to be assisted with any temporary lodging. No injuries to firefighters resulted from the fire.
