Channahon Police Nab Child Porn Suspect

An undercover investigation by the Channahon police department led to the arrest of a 64-year-old man on three felony counts of child pornography.

Michael S. Sims, 64, was taken into custody at his home—25324 W. Bluff St. in Channahon—at 8:37 a.m. on Wednesday morning after an investigation revealed he was offering known images of child pornography, according to Channahon detective Adam Bogart.

Sims, 5-9 and 190 pounds, was transported to the Will County Adult Dention Facility. He is facing three felony counts on child porn (film, tape and photos).

"His IP address was identified as offering known images of child porn," Bogart said. "A search warrant was obtained based on that information and completed (Wednesday). He was arrested pursuant to the investigation and the search warrant on Wednesday morning."

Bogart said Sims' case remains under active investigation—but that there is no reason to believe he was acting with others. Anyone who has information regarding Sims should contact the Channahon Police Department (815-467-2112).
