Channahon Teen Died in Sunday-Night Crash

SUV rolled over into a field near Morris, according to authorities.

MORRIS —James M. Harris III, 22, of Channahon, was killed in Sunday night's one-vehicle accident on Route 6 near Gun Club Road, according to Grundy County authorities.

At about 11 p.m. Sunday, Harris was ejected from the back seat of an SUV after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The SUV left the roadway and went into a ditch. It rolled several times into a field.

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan pronounced Harris dead at the scene.

The driver— an 18-year-old male from Shorewood— and two remaining passengers were in critical condition when they were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, according to the Morris Fire Protection & Ambulance District on Monday. The two other passengers were a 16-year-old female and 20-year-old male, both from Minooka.

The driver was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downer's Grove. The female passenger was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria and the male passenger to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn

Emergency crews responded to the scene at 11:13 p.m. after a witness called in the accident, according to the fire district.
