Channahon Teen Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

Speed a factor in early morning crash, police said.

A teenager was killed after apparently losing control of her vehicle early Tuesday in Channahon, the Will County Coroner's office said.

Madison C. Angus, 18, of Channahon, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday on Tryon Street about one-quarter mile north of Pawnee Lane.

According to the coroner's office, Angus apparently lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch in a wooded area.

Will County Deputy Sheriff Ken Kaupas said there were no other passengers in Angus' vehicle.

He said there is no indication that alcohol played a role in the accident, but said police are awaiting results of toxicology reports.

Kaupas said Angus was not wearing her seatbelt, and that speed appears to be a factor in the fatal crash.
