DNA Test: Alleged Hickory St. Killer Landerman is Baby's Father

The mother of Adam Landerman's baby daughter sobbed as she left a court hearing establishing the alleged killer's paternity.

Three months before Adam Landerman and three of his pals were charged with a , a young woman from Lockport accused him of fathering her child.

On Friday morning, Landerman, 19, learned he is the father of a 1-year-old.

Judge Brian Barrett said a DNA test performed on Landerman in the Will County jail "came back 99.9 percent you're the father."

Landerman was taken in chains from the jail so he could attend the hearing. The child's mother, Tiffany A. Rachal, sobbed as she left the courtroom after finding out Landerman is the father of her child. A woman embraced Rachal in the courthouse hallway but declined to discuss the revelation.

"We're not interested in commenting today," said the woman who had hugged Rachal.

Rachal is 19, according to a profile on the site meetme.com. The profile says Lockport woman is "hanging out with my daughter aunt and grandma having a good time."

Landerman is the son of Joliet police Sgt. Julie Larson. Assistant State's Attorney Marie Czech said during a hearing for the murder case that Larson was placed on administrative leave from the department after her son was linked to the double killing.

During the paternity hearing Friday, Judge Barrett noted that Landerman was in the custody of the county sheriff and asked him if his incarceration was related to his paternity case. Landerman muttered that he was locked up for "another case."

Assistant Attorney General Brian Moore pointed out that with Landerman in jail, there was nothing much to discuss as far as parental rights.

"Unless or until he's released from custody, there's really no question of support or visitation," Moore said.

Standing before the bench, Landerman spoke at length to Judge Barrett but whispered his words and could not be heard in the gallery. He seemed to be asking for a chance to see his daughter in jail. After the hearing, Moore declined to discuss what Landerman said. Barrett could not be reached for comment.

Landerman, 19, was arrested along with Joshua Miner, 24, Alisa Massaro, 19, and Bethany McKee, 18, all were arrested in January and charged with murdering Eric Glover and Terrance Rankins, both 22.

McKee and Massaro lured Glover and Rankins to Massaro's home on Hickory Street by leading them to believe they were going to have sex with them, according to police reports obtained exclusively by Patch. But when Rankins and Glover got there, the reports said, Miner and Landerman strangled them to death.

Massaro and Miner then had sex atop the dead men's bodies, the reports said, and the four alleged killers hatched a plot to dismember the corpses, with Miner planning to keep the teeth of the murdered men as trophies.

McKee eventually left the house and went to her father to see if he would help butcher the bodies. Instead, her father alerted police to the killings.

Officers sent to the Hickory Street house found the bodies and took Landerman, Massaro and Miner into custody. Bethany McKee was captured later in Kankakee, where she had gone to see the father of her child. Her daughter was in the back seat of her car when she was pulled over.

When officers first arrived at the house, they found Landerman hiding beneath “large white panels propped against the far wall” of an old cistern, a police report states.

He was “crouching on the floor, on his knees, facing the wall, with the panels pulled over him.”

Officers ordered Landerman to come out with his hands up, but he refused, a report states. He kept “his hands under his torso and turned and smiled at me,” an officer wrote.
