Driver in Morris Laundromat Crash Ticketed

The driver of a pickup truck that plowed into a laundromat in Morris on March 8 has been ticketed.

The man who drove his pickup truck into a Morris laundromat has been ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a report in the Morris Daily Herald.

Jason M. Lawford, 36, of Morris, was ticketed following an investigation by Illinois State police, according to the report. Lawford hit four cars stopped at a stoplight in the intersection of Illinois Route 47 and High Street before ramming into Soaps Laundromat, 304 High Street, according to the report.

Because Lawford is an employee of the Grundy County Sheriff's Department, Morris police chief Brent Dite said the decision was made to call state police for assistance in the acccident investigation, according to the report in the Morris Daily Herald.

"With our close relationship with the sheriff's department, the amount of property damage, and not knowing the severity of the injuries, it was decided the state police would be requested to come in and investiage the accident," Dite stated in the report.
