Police have reopened westbound I-80 following a fatal crash Thursday morning.

Illinois State Police said one person was killed in a crash on westbound I-80 near Ridge Road.

According to ISP, a pick-up truck was heading west on I-80 when it struck the back of a semi-trailer that was parked on the shoulder near a rest area. The pick-up truck then bounced back into the roadway, hitting another pick-up truck near mile marker 118.

The passenger in the first pick-up truck was pronounced dead on arrival at Morris Hospital, police said. The driver of both pick-up trucks and the semi were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

State police are currently investigating the crash scene.

Immediately following the crash, all westbound lanes were closed at Ridge Road, and traffic was diverted to Route 6 to the south and Route 52 to the north, according to Illinois State Police.

The identity of the person who was killed has not yet been released.

Have the greyhound dogs who ran away been found? How can we help? This is so sad.
