Fatal Traffic Crash on Route 6 in Channahon

Route 6 remained closed between Youngs Road on the east and the Pilot gas station on the west two hours after the crash.

One person is dead and one was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon. officer John Blough said the call came in at 3:10 p.m.

A pick-up truck and a passenger car collided and the car either rolled or flipped, coming to rest on its side police said.

The driver of the car, who police would only identify as an adult male, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the pick-up truck, whose information was not available, was taken to an area hospital. The pick-up drivers' condition was not available.

Channahon Police had called in a aerial lift to take aerial shots of the crash scene for investigation purposes, Channahon Police Sgt. Steve Weiss said.

Channahon Police last handled a in May 2011 when was killed when her vehicle collided with a semi-truck at Bell Road.
