Pregnant Woman Kicked in Stomach, Chased with Meat Cleaver, Police Say

The attack was triggered when the victim didn't side with Meghan Lello in a fight Lello was having with her husband, the Will County Sheriff's Office says.

A Joliet woman allegedly tore her pregnant friend's earlobe, kicked her in the stomach and came after her with a meat cleaver, all because the victim took the wrong side in a domestic dispute, police said.

Meghan Lello, 23, was charged with aggravated battery to a pregnant woman Thursday in connection with the vicious physical attack that took place shortly after midnight, Will County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

Sheriff's deputies were called to Lello's 211 Louis Road home to deal with a fight between Lello and her husband that had spiraled out of control, Hoffmeyer said.

The 24-year-old friend's mistake was to "side with the husband instead of (Lello)," apparently making Lello incensed, she said. That's when the fight became physical.

Lello is accused of tearing the woman's earlobe by pulling her earring off, pushing her to the ground and kicking her in the stomach area, Hoffmeyer said.

When Lello went to the kitchen to retrieve a meat cleaver, the victim escaped to a bathroom and locked herself inside, she said. Lello then tried to break the door by pounding on it with the cleaver, she said.

The victim was taken to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center to be examined and to have her earlobe stiched, Hoffmeyer said. No information was available on the condition of the woman or her unborn child.

Lello's bond was set at $5,000. It hadn't been paid as of 9 p.m. Thursday.

I agree..mandatories are dangerous...we create a group of people not a treatment plan...drinking and driving yeah 20 years next to the guy who got 20 years for killing someone while drinking and driving...Just not right...judgement needs to fit individual..not a group.

Okay I will give you the grammar thats pretty funny, as for the rest it's still a lot of BS. If you think you have all the facts by sitting in a courtroom you are a fool, does the judge have you come up and read "priors" over his shoulder? I am sure there are plenty of cases where you are correct, the punishment does not fit the crime, like your uncle with the wee, which I am sure is IPAD for weed. I have spent plenty of time in a court room, it does not make me a judge. Maybe you should study law instead of sitting in a court room for no reason, I am sure you would work full time just keeping your family out jail....okay BUD?

What about my uncle Jed who went to prison for 30 years for pulling the tag of his mattress.....I mean WTF how you think you are backing up any stories by rambling your "first hand accounts" and "court room 305" is hilarious.
