Five Joliet residents were arrested early Wednesday morning on Route 6, just east of Channahon, Channahon police reported.

Channahon Police Detective Adam Bogart said a Channahon patrol officer noticed a vehicle speeding at around 1:30 a.m., in the area of Manor Lane and Route 6. After the officer initiated a traffic stop, he witnessed someone in the vehicle throw something from the vehicle. The vehicle then continued to drive eastbound on Route 6. The vehicle briefly pulled over in the area of Houbolt Road and then continued eastbound on Route 6, finally stopping in the area of Hollywood Casino.

Five occupants of the vehicle, all Joliet residents, were arrested for the following charges:

  • John M. Adams, Jr., 25, of Joliet, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, speeding, improper lane use, no insurance and fleeing and attempting to elude police.
  • Ivan C. Moffett, 18; Jevonte D. Moffett, 20; Jeremy J. Moffett, 28 and Jarrell M. Luckey, 27, all of Joliet, were arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Jeremy J. Moffett was also arrested on a charge of obstruction after initially providing a false name to the officer. He also had a failure to appear warrant on record that was later found to be not valid, Bogart said.
All of the men were taken to Will County Jail.
