By Joseph Hosey

A Joliet woman left three dogs in a parked car on a sweltering Thursday afternoon, police said.

Victoria Byrd, 43, of 108 Old Elm Road was charged with cruelty to animals after an officer reportedly responded and feed the dogs shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The high temperature for Thursday was 93 degrees, according to the website accuweather.com.

Byrd left the dogs outside the Will County Health Department. police said.

Byrd was cited one day after a Frankfort man was hit with the same charge for allegedly leaving a dog in a car parked outside the Will County Courthouse on an equally hot day.
