Man Hospitalized, Jailed For Threats to Kill Gal, Self: Cops

Police tracked a man and took him to the hospital, and when he got out of there they carted him off to jail.

A Joliet man repeatedly called and texted his girlfriend with threats to kill her and vandalize her car, then called again to claim he was going to commit suicide, police said.

That was enough for officers to track down and take 46-year-old Lionel Morgan into custody Sunday evening.

Morgan was transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center for an evaluation. When he was discharged from the hospital he was taken to the Will County jail.

Morgan's girlfriend reportedly told police he called her at least 10 times and also texted her. During his last call, he shifted from threatening to do her harm to saying he was going to kill himself by jumping in the river, police said.

Morgan apparently left his 22 Hunter Ave. home after making the call but the police located him at a Joliet church.

Morgan was booked on charges of telephone harassment.
