UPDATE: Minooka Community High School Teacher Charged with DUI

Woman's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, according to Will County Court documents.

A teacher was charged last week with driving under the influence.

Carrie M. Prosek, 37, of the 1300 block of Phoenix Lane in Joliet, was arrested around 2 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 by police and charged with DUI, illegal parking and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, all misdemeanors, according to the Will County Jail log.

According to Will County Court documents obtained by Channahon-Minooka Patch, Carrie Prosek’s blood-alcohol level registered at .229 at the time of her arrest. A blood-alcohol level of .08 is considered intoxicated in the state of Illinois.

The court documents also said Prosek was "passed out in driver's seat, (had a) strong odor of alcoholic beverage on breath, red eyes, poor balance, and failed (a) field sobriety test."

The documents do not say where the car was parked, but the Will County Sheriff's Office reported she was arrested at the intersection of North Chicago and Columbia streets in Joliet. The documents also do not specify whether the keys were in the car at the time of her arrest. Prosek is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 25.

Prosek is listed as a member of the physical education, health and driver's education department on Minooka Community High School's website.

Minooka Community High School District 111 Director of Community Relations Dave DiLorenzo declined to comment on the charges Thursday. Additional attempts to reach the school were unsuccessful.
